Dedication Service Highlights

by Josh Stilwell | Published February 3, 2022

Last Sunday, the Alathea church family was blessed to celebrate the dedication of their new church building. But, as was reinforced throughout the service, it was really a dedication of the church people itself to faithfully steward the building to glorify God and make disciples.

Here are some highlights from the service:

The ceremony featured God-honoring special music.

Karen DeFord (violin) and Alissa Stilwell (piano) play “Holy, Holy, Holy”
The Alathea Baptist Church ensemble sings “Then Sings My Soul”.
The congregation singing “To God Be The Glory”.

Tim Capon, the state representative of the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches, began his ministry at Alathea (then Bethany Baptist Church) thirty-six years ago. His moving sermon offered a nostalgic look at Alathea’s past, an encouraging word about her present, and a stirring challenge for her future.

The service concluded with the Alathea church family signing a formal dedication covenant while singing “May The Lord Find Us Faithful”. Tears of joy were shed throughout the building as the church pledged to faithfully serve the Lord.

This powerful service was a huge blessing to the Alathea church family and the many guests who joined us.

Thank you to everyone who participated!
